Shades of Brown
The artworks in this collection all have a base coat of coffee and/or cacao mixed with acrylic pigments. Shades of brown are primarily used to produce the rest of the work. Often used in ceremony for clarity, mindfulness, and community, Forbes uses coffee and cacao as the artworks’ base, symbolizing that these pillars are the foundation from which we should build ourselves upon.
Shades of brown are used in color as an homage to Forbes’ heritage, as well as a reminder to viewers that we are all nothing more than different shades of brown; we are all Human.
